OK, I explicitly signed up for this forum because I was frustrated by yet another Instagram post vague (or Vogue, haha)-ly referring to some mishandled slight against some community. I don’t like all this shilly shallying. I want details. Who did what to whom? And possibly why, but of course that gets more complicated. Unfortunately, it seems there are very few voices here to rant to, but I just wanted to say that this has happened many times involving all sorts of non-Vogue characters. I basically just have no idea what people are apologizing for or getting upset about more than half the time but would like to because I would probably be sympathetic but I don’t have the time or patience to go digging for it. So tell me, what did you guys do exactly?

February 14, 2020 at 8:44 pm #341lauroftheblingsParticipantI agree.
And, what specifically will you do to reflect body positivity at Vogue Knitting? I hope you’ll reach out to knitters already doing this important work and get advice from them.February 14, 2020 at 8:47 pm #342mellytParticipantI agree with this post as well. Stop with the vague text and tell us what happened! Most will be understanding. Mistakes happen, but don’t make me dig for the information.
February 14, 2020 at 8:53 pm #343KnittingAllDayParticipantI have absolutely no idea, but my SWAG is that they offered one of the #knitkarl (woolmark/Karl Lagerfeld) codes. Because that’s what Instagram seems to be most up in arms about at the moment.
February 15, 2020 at 11:08 am #345code7565ParticipantActually obesity has very little to do with health, which is well backed up but medical studies. I’d recommend reading “Health at every size” by Lindo Bacon, and this article Everything you know about obesity is wrong, also well backed by research.
I also don’t understand what the issue is with just including everyone. Even if people aren’t “healthy”, everyone (including sick people) deserve to enjoy Vogue Knitting and be included in the knitting community. It is not taking anything away from any of us to include more people.
February 16, 2020 at 4:43 am #346jo69Participantno instructions how to see posts – so how can I respond as I can’t find them – and you ask that we spell out what we want to say but you’ve just put a vague post out saying you’d done something but not what it was! Also it took me 5 tries to register! perhaps you don’t want discussion after all – its really not a friendly and inviting and accessible forum
February 16, 2020 at 8:02 am #347meeganknitsParticipantFrustrated by the vague post and the login process (required many attempts). And after all that, no info to be found here?
February 17, 2020 at 12:04 pm #348tonya26ParticipantI had similar issues and still have no idea what the post is about
March 2, 2020 at 12:55 pm #349dac2019ParticipantWe understand that you are asking for more clarity in regards to the statement Vogue Knitting released last week. We had deleted a social media post, in which we announced a giveaway on Instagram for a Karl Lagerfeld Knitting Kit produced by The Woolmark Company. We did not consider Lagerfeld’s controversial reputation and should have done more research before making the post. After consulting with the Diversity Advisory Council, we realized that by deleting the post and not releasing a statement, we silenced our community. As our statement mentioned, going forward we will be reviewing our internal processes regarding what we post and who we choose to promote on social media. For the full details of our statement, see here https://dacforum.sohopublishing.com/statement-2-14-20/
March 2, 2020 at 1:00 pm #351dac2019ParticipantRules: Welcome to Vogue Knitting magazine’s Diversity Advisory Council Forum.
